Listen up, folks! Adonis Creed is still nursing those battle scars from his last epic showdown with Viktor Drago, but guess what? He’s already back in the ring, prepping for another title bout with his legendary coach, Rocky Balboa. That’s right—Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone are lacing up their gloves again for Creed III. This film will mark the ninth chapter in the iconic Rocky saga, which first hit the big screen way back in 1976 and even took home the Academy Award for Best Picture that year.
What makes Creed II so special is its connection to both Rocky IV and the original Creed. In this sequel, Adonis faces off against Viktor Drago, the son of the Russian boxer who tragically killed Adonis’s father in what was supposed to be a friendly exhibition match. This backstory gives the movie a powerful emotional pull, making it a must-watch for fans of both Stallone and Jordan—and, of course, for anyone who loves the magic that happens when these two legends team up.

In a candid chat with Deadline, MGM Motion Picture Group president Jonathan Glickman opened up about the film’s success, saying, “Sly is a genius. Not only did he write and produce this film, but he made sure there were two generations of heroes here. We’re not just talking about Michael B. Jordan; Viktor Drago’s character plays a crucial role too. The goal was to infuse something fresh and youthful so the franchise doesn’t feel stuck in the past. We may not have the budget for crazy stunts like a helicopter crashing over Paris, but what we do have is Michael B. Jordan—the number one rising star in Hollywood today. He’s carrying a story that resonates deeply with young people in America and around the world.”
Connecting Generations Through Film

Glickman also highlighted the film's ability to bridge generations. “The most exciting part was seeing who our strongest audience groups were,” he said, referring to surveys taken after people watched Creed II. “We had two clear demographics: those under 25 and those over 40. You’ve got people who grew up loving the Rocky films, watching them in theaters as kids, and then you’ve got an entire generation that never experienced those movies. For them, this franchise is brand new, starting with Creed I. It’s incredible to see how we’ve taken a 40-year-old story and turned it into something fresh and forward-thinking, appealing to all ages and genders. We used TV spots featuring Sly to target long-time fans, but we also wanted to make sure the younger crowd felt like this wasn’t just their parents’ franchise. We’re committed to continuing the Creed series with Michael and Sly.”
