It’s been close to three years since the world lost the legendary David Bowie, and his widow, Iman Bowie, continues to honor his memory in profound ways. In a heartfelt interview with Closer Weekly, Iman reveals how deeply she feels his absence and shares her unwavering commitment to their life together. “I will never remarry,” she says firmly. “When someone asks me about my husband, they often say, ‘You mean your late husband?’ But to me, he will always be my husband. No matter what.”
Iman on Life After David Bowie: Loneliness and Legacy
At 63, the iconic retired supermodel opens up about the loneliness she feels in the years since losing her beloved partner. Yet, she also acknowledges that she isn’t actively seeking a new relationship. “I do feel very alone at times,” she admits. “But am I looking for someone new? Honestly, I can’t say never, but not right now. My focus is on honoring David’s memory and ensuring that our daughter, Alexandria, grows up knowing how special her father was.”
Iman has steadfastly turned down offers from designers and modeling agencies eager to recruit her 18-year-old daughter for the runway. “They want her because she’s David Bowie’s daughter,” she explains. “That’s not who she is, and I want her to find her own path in life. She deserves to be recognized for who she truly is, not just as the child of a famous father.”

Iman’s Grief: A Personal Journey
Iman acknowledges the difference between the grief of fans and the profound loss experienced by those who were closest to David Bowie. “I understand the fans’ pain, but it’s not the same,” she reflects. “They lost someone they admired, someone who inspired them. For us, we lost a husband, a father—a cornerstone of our family. That kind of loss is deeply personal and life-altering.”
A Life Full of Joy, Centered Around Love
Throughout her life, Iman has experienced countless moments of happiness, but there’s one that stands out above the rest: meeting her husband. “The most special day of my life was when I met David,” she told Closer Weekly in January of this year. “We had both been married before, but somehow, everything aligned perfectly for us. We were at the right place in our lives, and when we met, it was magic. We fell in love, and that love only grew stronger with each passing day.”
Iman and David shared nearly 24 years of marriage, from 1992 until his passing in January 2016 after a battle with liver cancer. “It’s been a tough couple of years,” she confessed during the launch of the Jay Manuel Beauty Retail Experience in October 2017. “But through it all, David’s memory continues to guide me and give me strength.”
