Well, folks, it seems even Martha Stewart isn’t immune to the occasional bad ride-hailing experience. The legendary lifestyle icon, who just turned 77, decided to take her very first Uber ride recently. But, alas, it wasn’t the smooth and luxurious experience she might have hoped for. On Nov. 19, Martha shared her less-than-stellar tale on Instagram, complete with photos of the less-than-pristine vehicle she ended up in.
In her post, Martha described the ordeal: “I ordered the fanciest version of Uber to pick me up on Fifth Avenue and 57th Street, right in front of Tiffany’s. But guess what? The first car never showed up. The second one finally arrived ten minutes later, parking halfway down 57th Street where I couldn’t even see the license plate. Then, get this—when I got in, we were facing the wrong direction! It took twenty minutes just to turn around, and the whole ride only took a bit over an hour. And to top it all off, the car was a complete mess both inside and out. Still, I want Uber to succeed!”
Martha’s followers were quick to jump in with their own reactions. Many of her 320,000+ Instagram fans expressed their sympathy for the less-than-royal treatment she received. One commenter quipped, “This is not fit for the queen, @MarthaStewart! I’m offended on your behalf!” Another chimed in, “The first one canceled on you?! Did the next driver even know who you were? Did they apologize for the lack of luxury?” Clearly, Martha’s fans were just as disappointed as she was.

Martha's Take on Aging and Technology
Despite her less-than-ideal experience, we’ve got to give Martha credit for being tech-savvy at nearly 80 years old. Not everyone would be brave enough to try something new like ride-sharing apps, especially if they’re used to a chauffeur-driven lifestyle. During a recent interview, Martha opened up about her perspective on aging. She’s not one to shy away from embracing her years. “Seventy is nothing like the 70 of 20 or 40 years ago. Your 70s are the new 50s,” she told New You.
She continued, “Not everyone wants to retire, and very few people want to slow down.” A close source also revealed to Closer Weekly that Martha is fully owning her power these days. “She does only what she wants to do, and she feels that this past year has made her the most relevant she’s ever been,” the source said.
What's Next for Martha?
So, will Martha give Uber another shot or switch to Lyft for her next ride? Only time will tell. But one thing’s for sure—this woman isn’t slowing down anytime soon. With her active lifestyle and fearless attitude toward technology, Martha Stewart continues to inspire people of all ages. She’s living proof that age is just a number, and there’s no expiration date on staying relevant and productive.
