Hey there, royal watchers! Remember when Prince William earned the title of Duke of Cambridge, and a few years later, his brother Prince Harry became the Duke of Sussex? Well, fast forward to the future, and William’s sons, Prince George and Prince Louis, will eventually receive their own fancy Duke titles. But guess what? They’ll have to wait a really long time before they get those prestigious royal monikers.
Why Do George and Louis Have to Wait?
According to Cosmopolitan magazine, Prince George, who is 5, and baby Prince Louis, who is just 7 months old, will likely have to wait until they get married to be bestowed with their Dukedoms. It’s kind of a bummer, right? But when you think about it, it makes total sense. After all, both Prince William and Prince Harry had to wait until they tied the knot with Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, respectively, before they became Dukes. So, George and Louis, the rules are the rules, and you’ll just have to be patient!
What Titles Could George and Louis Get?
So, when the time finally comes for George and Louis to become Dukes, what titles might they receive? Well, according to Charles Kidd, the editor of Debrett’s Peerage & Baronetage, there are a few options on the table. “Clarence” is available, but the Duke of Clarence title hasn’t been used in a long time and has been somewhat tainted by bad luck. Other possibilities include “Connaught,” “Cumberland,” “Teviotdale,” and “Albany.” These are all up for grabs, so we’ll just have to wait and see which ones the senior members of the royal family decide to bestow upon them.

What About Princess Charlotte?
Now, let’s not forget about George and Louis’s sister, Princess Charlotte. At the age of 3, Charlotte is also in line for a special title in the future. She will likely one day receive the coveted Princess Royal title, currently held by Princess Anne. However, like her brothers, she’ll have to wait until her dad, Prince William, becomes King and probably until she gets married to earn the title. It’s all about tradition and timing in the royal family!
And here’s some exciting news for all the royal enthusiasts out there. George, Charlotte, and Louis aren’t the only ones who will be receiving new titles in the years to come. When Queen Elizabeth either passes away or abdicates the throne, Prince Charles could become King Charles III (or choose from a variety of other names). Prince William will inherit his father’s Prince of Wales title, and Kate will take over the late Princess Diana’s Princess of Wales title. Isn’t that fascinating?
