When Things Got Bumpy: Prince Harry And Meghan's Flight Drama

Oh, what a ride! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were on their way back from Tonga to Sydney on Friday, October 26, as part of their whirlwind royal tour. But guess what? Their flight didn’t go exactly as planned. It sounds like something out of a thriller, doesn’t it? But don’t worry—no one was in danger, and the couple took it all in stride.

Here’s the scoop: As the royal couple’s Qantas Airlines flight was descending into Sydney airport, the pilots had to make a quick decision. According to reports from the Evening Standard, another plane hadn’t cleared the runway, forcing the pilots to abort the landing. Now, I know what you’re thinking—this sounds intense, right? But here’s the thing: the pilot handled it like a pro. He calmly informed the passengers about the "missed approach" and even tried to lighten the mood by saying they’d get "another great view of the [Sydney] harbour." Smooth move, right?

According to Sky News royal producer Valerie Hamill, the plane circled around and touched down safely within ten minutes. She reassured everyone that the situation was "not scary" at all. In fact, the atmosphere on board was light-hearted and positive. "No one was concerned," Valerie said. "The move was jovial on board. We'd all had a lovely flight. At no point was there any question of our safety." Phew! Safe to say, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and everyone else on board can breathe a sigh of relief.

Meghan and Harry are on day 11 of their 16-day overseas tour, which has been packed with engagements and appearances. After spending a few days in Tonga, the couple flew back to Sydney for a few more days before heading to New Zealand for the final leg of their tour, starting on Sunday, October 28. Despite the unexpected hiccup with their flight, they managed to arrive in Sydney just in time for Meghan to present awards at the Australian Geographic Society Awards at the Grand Ballroom, Shangri-La Hotel later that evening. Impressive, right?

Now, let’s talk about Meghan. We all know she’s expecting, and I can only imagine how exhausting this tour must be for her. Sources say she’s cutting back on appearances to ensure she doesn’t overdo it. "We have to try to pace her," an insider told Us Weekly. "We have to make sure she is well paced and not overdoing it. We want to make sure she gets enough rest at the beginning of the day and at the end of the day." With the tour wrapping up on Wednesday, October 31, we’re sure she’s counting down the days until she can put her feet up and relax.
