Nicole Kidman Keeps Her Kids Away From 'Big Little Lies' Despite Their Begging

Hey there, friends. Let’s talk about Nicole Kidman for a moment, shall we? The talented actress, who plays Celeste Wright in the hit HBO show Big Little Lies, is busy trying to keep her daughters, Sunday Rose, 10, and Faith Margaret, 7, from binge-watching the first season of the show. While Season 2 is set to premiere in 2019, Nicole is making sure her kids aren't diving into the drama too soon. During an appearance at OMEGA’s “Her Time” exhibition in Russia, the 51-year-old opened up about her kids' growing interest in the show.

Nicole Kidman's Daughters Begging to Watch 'Big Little Lies'

Nicole shared that her daughter is constantly negotiating with her to watch Big Little Lies. “My daughter is always negotiating with me to see Big Little Lies and I’m like, ‘No, no, no,’” Nicole said. She added that her kids catch snippets here and there, but she's firm about keeping the full show out of their reach. Despite her efforts, Nicole acknowledges that it's important for her children to see her work and understand what she does. “Then it’s theirs as well, so I talk about it,” she explained.

It’s no surprise that Nicole might not want her kids to watch the show just yet. After all, Big Little Lies isn’t exactly kids’ programming. The series includes mature themes like domestic abuse, profanity, and a storyline centered around a group of California mothers with some pretty deep secrets. But Nicole isn’t just keeping her kids away from the show because of its mature content. In a previous interview with Tatler, she revealed that her kids are her biggest critics and aren’t shy about giving her feedback.

Her Kids Aren't Afraid to Speak Their Minds

Nicole shared a funny anecdote about her daughters' honesty. “My little one will say, ‘Please don’t wear your workout stuff to school this morning. Please blow-dry your hair. Please wear some makeup,’” she said. “I mean, that’s hard truth right there!” Clearly, Nicole’s kids have no problem telling it like it is. They might not be ready for the world of Big Little Lies, but they’re definitely not shy about critiquing their mom’s appearance.

Meryl Streep Joins the Cast: Will the Kids Be Impressed?

With Meryl Streep joining the cast in Season 2, Faith and Sunday might be even more eager to watch Big Little Lies. Nicole has nothing but praise for her new co-star. “She’s got a fantastic character. It’s also grounded and it’s based in something very, very real, and we hope we bring you the [best] second season and it delivers. We’re working hard,” Nicole told Entertainment Tonight.

Nicole continued, “We’ve already been shooting. It’s so good. She’s just amazing, and to watch her do her craft, it really is artistic craft when you watch her, we’re all — Laura Dern, Shailene [Woodley], Zoe [Kravitz], Reese [Witherspoon] — we just go, gasp, can you believe it?” It’s clear that Nicole and her co-stars are thrilled to have Meryl on board. With such an incredible cast, it’s no wonder Nicole’s kids are dying to watch the show!
