Queen Elizabeth Mourns Loss Of Beloved Corgi Whisper

Hey there, friends. It's a tough day for the royal family, and I want to take a moment to share something heartfelt. Queen Elizabeth, the 92-year-old matriarch, is grieving the loss of her last Windsor Castle Corgi, Whisper. The Daily Mail broke the news, sharing that a vet was urgently called to Windsor Castle when 12-year-old Whisper fell ill. Tragically, the loyal pup passed away just a week ago at the Queen’s peaceful countryside residence.

Now, the exact cause of Whisper’s passing hasn’t been made public, but it's worth noting that several of the Queen’s cherished Corgis have succumbed to cancer-related illnesses in the past. Whisper, however, was special. The Queen adopted him back in 2016 after the passing of his original owner, Bill Fenwick, a devoted gamekeeper at the royal family’s Sandringham Estate. That’s where the story gets even more touching.

Bill’s wife, Nancy Fenwick, was fondly known as the "keeper of the Queen’s Corgis," always ensuring the dogs were cared for when Her Majesty traveled. Queen Elizabeth felt it was only right to honor the Fenwicks by welcoming Whisper into her family. “Whisper was a friendly chap and followed her everywhere. The Queen has quickly become very attached to the dog,” a source revealed to the Daily Mail, highlighting the deep bond they shared.

With Whisper’s passing, the Queen remains a devoted pet parent to two “Dorgis” — a mix of Corgis and Dachshunds named Candy and Vulcan, along with a few Labradors residing at Sandringham. Earlier this year, the Queen was deeply affected by the passing of another Corgi, Willow, in April. A Buckingham Palace source confided in the Daily Mail, “She does not like seeing her dogs suffer and she knows that sometimes putting a dog down is the kindest course of action — although that doesn’t make her loss any less.”

A Legacy of Love and Loyalty

Willow was the last of the Queen’s Corgis that descended from her original Corgi, Susan, gifted to her as an 18th birthday present back in 1944. An insider shared, “She has mourned every one of her Corgis over the years, but she has been more upset about Willow’s death than any of them. It’s probably because Willow was the last link to her parents and a pastime that goes back to her own childhood. It really does feel like the end of an era.”

Before Willow’s passing, Queen Elizabeth also lost a Corgi named Holly in October 2016. Just five years ago, the Queen made a public decision to stop breeding Corgis. She expressed concerns about tripping over the small dogs in her advancing years and worried about who would care for her beloved pets if she could no longer do so.
