In 2012, Ty Pennington, the beloved face of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, waved a heartfelt goodbye to the show after an incredible nine-year run. Each week, Ty and his talented team raced against the clock to create stunning homes for families in need. Now, six years later, Ty has revealed his thoughts on possibly bringing back the iconic show that touched countless lives.
“Absolutely!” Ty exclusively told Closer Weekly when asked if he’d return for a reboot. “I would. I’ve actually been trying to make that happen for a while now. It’s one of the toughest challenges out there. Building a house in just seven days? That’s practically impossible! I still don’t know how we managed it back then, but yes, I’d love to do it again!”

Ty’s Heartfelt Connection to the Show
Ty Pennington opened up about the deep connection he felt to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. “What I cherished most about the show was the way it brought people together. Even after we left town, the community stayed involved. They’d come together to tackle more projects, like building ramps for homeless veterans. That kind of spirit is truly inspiring,” he shared. “At the end of the day, what we were doing was giving people hope. Any project that fosters hope is something I want to be a part of, and that’s really what this show was all about.”
Ty’s New Adventure: Helping Small Businesses Thrive
While Ty acknowledges that there may never be another show exactly like Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, he’s found a new passion in helping small businesses grow and thrive. He recently joined Season 3 of Small Business Revolution: Main Street, teaming up with Amanda Brinkman to revitalize the small town of Alton, Illinois.
“We were thrilled to spend nearly half a year in Alton, IL, working hand-in-hand with the small businesses in the community. Our goal was to not only revitalize their Main Street but to breathe new life into the entire town,” Amanda shared with Closer. To achieve this, the Deluxe Corporation invested a whopping half a million dollars into Alton, IL. Amanda assembled an all-female team of industry experts who volunteered their time and expertise without expecting payment.

What Sets This Project Apart
Ty emphasized what makes this new endeavor different from other makeover shows. “This isn’t just some publicity stunt. That’s what sets it apart. This is the real deal. You really see the power of people coming together to invest in a small town—not just the businesses, but the families behind those businesses. It’s about recognizing how vital these connections are,” he explained.
