Maureen McCormick Opens Up About Sobriety, Marriage, And The Turbulent Journey

Let me tell you a story about Marcia Brady herself, Maureen McCormick. In a heartfelt and candid interview, the former star of The Brady Bunch got real about her battle with sobriety and the challenges of staying on track. During a sit-down with Us Weekly, she revealed just how close her parents came to taking drastic measures to help her find her way back. It’s a story of struggle, resilience, and ultimately, redemption.

When Parents Reach Their Breaking Point

Maureen shared an emotional moment during an event at The Brent Shapiro Foundation Summer Spectacular in Beverly Hills. She opened up about the lengths her parents went to in order to help her. "My mom and dad, they almost turned me into the cops," she said. "They were at their last straw because they'd been trying for years. They knew something was wrong, but I was pretty sneaky. I could hide my struggles so well that it made it even harder for them to intervene."

The Price of Secrecy

Maureen’s struggles weren’t just confined to her personal life—they began to affect her professional life as well. "But then I started messing up on jobs and so many other things," she admitted. "I’m sure everyone in the industry at the time knew that I was flaking out. It wasn’t just my parents who were worried—it was everyone around me. The facade I had built was crumbling, and it was only a matter of time before everything came to a head."

    A Turning Point in Love

It wasn’t until Maureen met her now-husband, Michael Cummings, that things began to change for the better. "It was before we were married, and we were just dating," she recalled. "I had my last relapse, and he came to me and said, 'If you ever do this drug again, I’m gone. I’m leaving.' It was like a wake-up call. It was the coldest shower you could ever take. There’s just no way I’m gonna lose somebody that I love." That moment marked the beginning of a new chapter in Maureen’s life—a chapter filled with hope and healing.
