Meghan Markle Once Dreamed Of Being A Princess — And Even Mentioned Kate Middleton!

Here's a story that feels like destiny! Long before she walked down the aisle with Prince Harry in one of the most talked-about royal weddings of our time, Meghan Markle shared her childhood dreams of becoming a princess. And guess what? She even name-dropped Kate Middleton in the process. Crazy, right?

Back to the Days Before Royalty

Let’s take a trip down memory lane. Four years before she officially became the Duchess of Sussex at the age of 37, Meghan wrote a heartfelt blog post on her now-defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig. In this post, she opened up about her childhood aspirations — specifically, her desire to become a princess. But here’s the twist: Meghan wasn’t dreaming of being your typical fairy-tale princess.

In her own words, she wrote, "Little girls dream of being princesses. I, for one, was all about She-Ra, Princess of Power." For those of you who might not be familiar with this '80s cartoon icon, She-Ra is the twin sister of He-Man and a royal rebel known for her strength and courage. "We’re definitely not talking about Cinderella here," Meghan clarified, setting the tone for her unique take on princess life.

    The World's Obsession with Royalty

Meghan also touched on the global fascination with royalty, pointing out how it was amplified when Kate Middleton married Prince William in April 2011. "Grown women seem to retain this childhood fantasy," she wrote. "Just look at the pomp and circumstance surrounding the royal wedding and endless conversation about Princess Kate." It’s clear that Meghan was not only aware of the hype but also embraced it in her own unique way.

    Saying Goodbye to The Tig

In April 2017, just months before Meghan and Harry announced their engagement, she decided to close down The Tig. In a heartfelt farewell post, she expressed her gratitude to her followers. "After close to three beautiful years on this adventure with you, it’s time to say goodbye to The Tig," she began. "What began as a passion project (my little engine that could) evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun, and frivolity."

She continued, "You’ve made my days brighter and filled this experience with so much joy. Keep finding those Tig moments of discovery, keep laughing and taking risks, and keep being 'the change you wish to see in the world.' Thank you for everything." It was a bittersweet moment, but Meghan knew it was time to move on to the next chapter of her life.

A few months later, Meghan also stepped away from her social media presence, preparing for her new role as a member of the royal family. She tied the knot with Prince Harry in May 2018, marking the start of her royal journey.
