It’s been seven months since Rebecca Gayheart filed for divorce from her longtime partner, actor Eric Dane, and she’s now opening up about the challenges of co-parenting their two daughters, Billie Dane, 8, and Georgia Dane, 6. In a candid chat with Us Weekly during the Giving Keys’ retail store opening party in LA, the 47-year-old actress revealed the ups and downs of navigating this new chapter of her life. For Rebecca, co-parenting isn’t just about splitting time—it’s about creating a loving, stable environment for her girls, even when it’s not always easy.
“We’re Doing OK”: Rebecca Gayheart’s Honest Take on Co-Parenting
Rebecca shared that while co-parenting isn’t always smooth sailing, she and Eric are putting in the effort to make it work for their daughters. “We do our best,” she told Us Weekly. “I’m not going to lie, it’s not easy all the time. But we’re doing OK.” That honesty speaks volumes about the reality of post-divorce life for many parents. It’s a delicate balance between maintaining a strong relationship for the kids and managing the inevitable challenges that come with sharing custody.

Finding Her Groove as a Co-Parent
Since filing for joint and legal custody earlier this year, Rebecca has been adjusting to her new role as a co-parent. It’s a journey that comes with its own set of challenges, especially when it comes to striking a balance between personal and family life. “One of my daughters really didn’t want me to leave for an event, and I told her it was important for me,” Rebecca admitted. “But I have so much guilt. I’m thinking about her every second.”
Despite the guilt, Rebecca reassures herself that her daughters are in good hands. “At the end of the day, I know my daughter is safe, she has a roof over her head, she’s going to have great food for dinner, and there’s someone who loves her and will put her to bed nicely,” she said. It’s this awareness that helps her navigate the tough moments and focus on the bigger picture.
Teaching Independence and Self-Care
Rebecca is also mindful of teaching her daughters the importance of independence and self-care. “Hopefully, she’ll learn that I value myself and my self-care enough to sometimes step away,” Rebecca explained. “And hopefully, she will learn to do that for herself.” By modeling this behavior, Rebecca hopes her daughters will grow up understanding the importance of taking care of their own emotional needs while still maintaining strong family bonds.

No Room for Dating—For Now
Right now, Rebecca’s focus is entirely on her family. When asked about dating, she made it clear that it’s not on her radar. “No dating! I hang out with girlfriends,” Rebecca revealed. For her, this is a time to dedicate herself fully to being the best mom she can be for Billie and Georgia. It’s a decision that reflects her commitment to prioritizing her daughters during this transitional period in their lives.
