Reflecting on her maternity leave, Eva told Entertainment Tonight in early August, "It's been seven weeks, he's seven weeks old, and I've been with him day and night, not working for seven weeks, and it's been the best seven weeks of my life." Her voice filled with emotion as she added, "I just miss him so much." The transition back to work wasn't easy, but Eva embraced it with grace, asking herself, "How do you balance it all?" She joked, "Everybody used to ask me, 'How do you do it all? You do so many things?' And I was just like, 'Because I don’t have kids.' Now I actually have a baby."
Eva's Little Dream Baby
What makes Eva feel better about being away from her son is the fact that Santiago is such a dream baby. "He's a dream, and he’s such a good baby," she confessed. "I knock on wood. He's just been so easy, so sweet, we've been really lucky, he's super healthy. It's just been great." Eva shared how everything Santiago does is adorable, from his noises to his smile. "He's finding his voice, so he makes all these funny baby noises, you're just like, 'What was that?' He talks a lot. I mean, he just wants to talk and talk."

Eva and José confirmed the birth of their baby boy in late June. On Instagram, Eva wrote, "Hello world! I introduce to you Santiago Enrique Bastón. Thank you everyone for showering my baby boy with all your warm wishes!" In light of her son's birth, Eva also brought attention to the families separated at the border, expressing, "Having my son next to me, I cannot imagine him being taken from my arms. Families belong together which is why we must do what we can to reunite them."

A New Chapter in Eva's Life
At the time of Santiago's birth, Eva released a statement via Hola, saying, "We are so grateful for this beautiful blessing." The little one joins José's three older kids from a previous marriage but marks Eva's first child. The couple, who tied the knot in a romantic Mexico wedding in May 2016, announced their pregnancy in mid-December. Since then, Eva has been open about her journey to motherhood, sharing her excitement and uncertainties.
Eva even joked about her "pregnancy brain," saying, "I have been working, so sometimes I wake up and I forget I am pregnant. Like this morning, I was like, 'Oh my god, I am late!' and then I was like, 'Why can’t I get out of bed?' and I was like, 'Helppp!' And then I was like, 'Oh yeah, this thing.'" Luckily for Eva, her husband has been a rock throughout her pregnancy, spoiling her with foot rubs and letting her sleep and eat as much as she needs.
